How to Paddleboard

There is definitely a learning curve that comes along with learning to paddleboard. Some people pick it up quicker than others, however, it is like riding a bike. Once you can do it, you don’t forget! Balance is key for paddleboarding, but if you don’t have good balance, don’t worry! You’ll still be able to learn.

Here are Steps to Paddleboarding:

  • Pull yourself up on the paddleboard
  • Sit up, then kneel on the board. It is beneficial to begin paddling while kneeling first, just so you can get used to the feel of it.
  • Once you feel comfortable kneeling and paddling on the paddleboard, stand up! Make sure you stand up slowly so you don’t lose your balance. This is the trickiest part, so it may take a few tries. We are lucky we live in Georgia because the water it feels good when you fall in.
  • When you’re standing, begin to paddle! You’ll get the feel of keeping your balance while paddling forward. After paddleboarding for long enough, you’ll feel your arms and legs getting a workout!

You are going to love paddleboarding because it gives you a workout while you’re having fun and enjoying yourself! Even if you’re not extremely talented, you’ll have a blast trying to keep your balance and racing whoever you go with. When you go paddleboarding, let us know! We’d love to hear about it and share your story with the rest of Peachtree City!

I have only ever paddleboarded in Lake Peachtree so I am not sure if paddleboarding is allowed in Lake Kedron or Lake McIntosh. Have you ever paddleboarded in these lakes? Technically, swimming is not allowed in Lake Mcintosh or Lake Kedron, but kayaking and canoeing is. I'm guessing that if you are skilled enough to paddleboard without falling, you can get out on these lakes. In my opinion, as long as you don't fall, you should be good to go. What do you think?
