What are Power Vents?

Power Vents are installed for the purpose of drawing out hot air from the attic. Once hot air is pulled out by the vent, cool air from the soffit is drawn into the attic. Power Vent fans run almost all day throughout the summertime. They last anywhere from 5-8 years. Power vents run on a thermostat which activate the fan when temperatures get hot enough.

Usually thermostats are set to turn on when it reaches 104 degrees in the attic. This is the perfect temperature because you don’t want it to get too hot, but you also don’t want the fan to run 24/7. Setting the thermostat is usually left up to the roofer who installs the fan, so talk to them about what temperature they recomend! E.M. Blue almost always sets it at 104 degrees.
