Rotten Decking and New Studs

This job took place on June 2, 2014. Their client was selling their home but they had a leak in the roof. The leak needed to be fixed before the house could be sold. E.M. Blue bid to find the source of the problem and to fix the leak. They were not entirely sure where the source of the leak was, so they crawled into the attic to find the leak. They drove a nail up thru the wood decking so as to spot the area from above, it wasn't hard to do as the wood was very soft in this area.

Once the problem area was located, they pulled off all the old shingles and felt paper that had failed then cut out the rotted plywood. They then re-framed a few places with 2x4 studs and installed the new plywood decking. The studs and decking are important because they provide structure to the home. Finally, they placed ice and water shield underlayment down then re-shingled with new shingles.

This job only took one full day to complete. The results turned out better than the client expected it would because she watched the process from the ground and could see what a mess the leaking water had done to the wood decking.
