Ready? Set… PADDLE!
This Saturday September 27, 2014 from 9am to 5pm Lake McIntosh will host the renowned Peachtree City International Festival and Rotary Club Dragon Boat Races.
The event has been moved to Lake McIntosh due to Lake Peachtree being low, but will be bigger and better than ever! This may be a first and only for the races, but Lake McIntosh is a fantastic venue; beautiful landscaping, nice restrooms, paths, a park for kids, and a perfect walk out dock to watch the races.
The event is a legend. It includes something for everyone:
-Dragon Boats piloted by local teams (including our very own infamous Ed Outlaw, the President of Rotary).
-Kids Korner with activities for little tykes.
-Performances and Live Music
-Food
Best of all, the proceeds benefit The Breast Cancer Survivors Network, a local non profit that supports breast cancer patients.
The festival will not only feature a good cause but cafe vendors with traditional and international food, artisan crafts for sale, and even cultural exhibits. Not bad!
The Dragon Boat Races have been going on now for 7 years in Peachtree City. The International Festival works to raise awareness of cultural diversity while providing a great opportunity to support a local charity.
The Peachtree City Rotary Club is Fayette County’s oldest service club. They are a wonderful group of individuals that pay to be part of a club whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Hats off to them!
The Breast Cancer Survivors Network provides FREE one on one professional counseling, a mammogram program, referrals, support groups, educational programs, services and medical supplies for breast cancer patients that need them.
Robert Lattery, Frances Meaders, Joel Norris, and Jessica Walker of Rotary Club.
(No dragons were harmed in the making of the article, and luckily we managed to get away without any burn marks either!)
