Installing the Fan in the Roof

Our client had a new stove being installed in his kitchen and he needed the exhaust fan hood to be vented out through the attic. He called me because he was referred to me by someone I know.

The hole in the roof for the job was already cut into the sheetrock in the ceiling of the kitchen. All we had to do was install the materials and hook them up. The roof was a little steep, so we had to set up a staging area on the roof for safety and convenience. Once this was done, we figured out where (from the inside of the attic) we wanted the exhaust vent to go up.

We drove a nail up through to the outside so that we could see where to cut the hole from the top. We removed the shingles then marked and cut the hole with a sawzall. We had to attach the exhaust tubing to the vent before installing the vent because it was too high up in the attic to do afterwards. Once the vent was fitted and installed, we reshingled around it. We then went inside the attic and fed the exhaust tubing down through the sheetrock.

They were especially happy with the communication of my company because the morning we were scheduled to do the work, it was pouring rain so we had to reschedule.
