Peachtree City Improvements That are Happening Right Now!

Share!Email this to someoneShare on Facebook0Share on Google+0Tweet about this on TwitterPin on Pinterest0
It seems like this year there is a lot of spring cleaning and improvements going on all around Peachtree City and especially in the heart of Peachtree City. This article has some pictures and information about some of those improvements that have happened, are happening, and will happen in the near future.

* Below are four different improvements happening in Peachtree City. Scroll down to read more and see pictures.

New Retaining Walls At The Point of Drake Field

Drake field has long been a gathering place in Peachtree City. Here people gather for community events, movies, triathlons, dragon boat races and more. One of the most used places on Drake field that needs some T.L.C is the point. At the point of Drake field a lot happens. This is where the dragon boats dock and the racers enter and exit their boats, this is where triathlon swimmers enter the water for their swim, and this is where many families come to enjoy a warm summer day at the lake. With so much activity the shore line continues to erode and become less usable.

On March 21, 2014 the city and a crew prepared to lay a concrete block retaining wall around the entrance to the water at the point of Drake field. We took some pictures for you to see the area right before and during the laying of the retaining wall. We will for sure go back to take some more pictures of it when it is completed.

The All Children's Park Becomes Brand New Again

Thousands of children and parents go to the All Children's Park throughout the year. In fact, it is by far the most busy park in all of Peachtree City. Because of the high volume of traffic its surface was in need of repair. The city accepted a bid to have the surface replaced with artificial turf. We visited the park today and took pictures of the park during its facelift. It looks fantastic. The kids, the moms, and all who visit this park once it reopens sometime in April, 2014 will be absolutely amazed and pleased with the results. Below are some pictures of what it looks like today.

The Shoreline Around The All Children's Park Gets a Retaining Wall!

Yesterday the city finished installing a concrete retaining wall around The All Children's Park field. This shoreline has been eroding for years and we were so pleased to see it look so pristine and clean. This is a project that will be appreciated and noticed. Thanks Peachtree City!

The Battery Way Boat Dock is About To Be Rebuilt

We reported last week on The Battery Way Boat Dock being torn down in preparation for a new dock to be built. We have some more information about this soon to be dock. Instead of wood, the new Battery Way Boat Dock will be constructed out of aluminum. We are excited to see this new addition to the lake which will begin filling up at the end of this month.

After we did our original news story titled "Lost & Found in Lake Peachtree" we have received many reports of people being inspired to explore the now empty lake. If you were one of those people, we would love to hear what you found or experienced when trudging through what used to be Lake Peachtree.

The playground looks beautiful! Now if only they could get the adaptive swings working correctly, all would be as it should! (Too bad we couldn’t find a way to keep those kiddos off of them as well who do not require the use of the adaptive swings. They sure would last a lot longer for those of our kiddos who do require them.)
So happy they are cleaning up the parks 🙂

They will start refilling the lake by the end of March. I haven’t heard of an projected date as to when it will be completely full. Hopefully soon!

Walking on the bed of Lake Peachtree is a bad idea! Hubby and I thought it would be fun because we saw others doing it. We walked out just between Drake Field and the Children’s park area and sank to our knees in mud and got stuck! It took some digging out with both hands and quite a bit of struggling before we got out and safely back to shore. We were a mess! Won’t be having that adventure again for sure!!!

      Jennifer,

Thank you so much for sharing this. I can relate. When I went out I had on tall gum boots and soon learned that I needed a large tree branch to help get unstuck. I had a few of your type of experiences and by the end of the day I was muddy and tired. Glad you got unstuck. Did you lose any shoes?

      Sincerely,

      Garret

No but I almost did. I could feel the mud pulling one off as I tried to get free. Luckily it stayed on just enough and I pulled them off as I got each foot out and then got stuck again. Still have some scrapes to remind me to stay out, but we are mostly healed. Who needs the spa for a mud bath when we have Lake Peachtree? 😉
