Citizens of Peachtree City know how great it is to live in such a beautiful and community driven city, however, the nation seems to be catching on to that notion as well! In 2011, Peachtree City was listed in one of the top 100 places to live in the United States by CNN. What do you think makes Peachtree City such a desired place to live?

Neighborhood Scout has recently listed Peachtree City as the 86th safest city in the United States. This may not seem very impressive, but we must remember that there are approximately 30,000 cities and towns in the United States. Ranking 86th out of 30,000 is not too shabby.

Do Golf Carts Contribute to Less Crime?

golf carts reduce crimeSafewise.com has listed Peachtree City as the 5th safest city in Georgia. So what makes our city so impressively safe and family friendly? Could it have any correlation with the 10,000 golf carts that are driven around town daily on the 90+ miles of golf cart paths? If it was true that golf carts increase happiness, then we could conclude that happier people commit less crimes. Therefore, the hypothesis that more golf carts lead to less crime would ring true!

The Chief of the Peachtree City Police Department saw the rankings of this town and was quite proud. He has a different idea of what keeps our town so safe. He attributes the safety of our town to the citizens. He said, “Our community is safer than most due to our citizens not accepting crime and suspicious activity … we would not be successful in our crime prevention efforts, without the partnership with our community.”

Safety Promotion in Peachtree City

The police chief gave us some advice to increase the safety in the city. Here are some tips he gave:

-Always lock the doors to your vehicle
-Never leave anything in plain sight in your car (GPS units, laptops, cell phones, purses)
-Lock the truck-bed toolboxes
-Park your vehicle in a locked garage. Change your generic golf cart ignition key to a unique key.
-Avoid parking your car on a dark or isolated street.
-Do not carry around social security cards or other important documents. Continual victimization can be caused if these items are stolen.
-Keep a list of important numbers such as your bank number, credit card number, and serial numbers to all electronics.

If you take into account these tips given by the police chief of Peachtree City, you’ll find yourself in less risk of the crimes that do take place in PTC. You can continue to reduce crime by reporting suspicious activity and abiding by all the laws of the city and state.

We love our PTC Police and Fire Department in Peachtree City! We feel safe because they respond so quickly and they are truly concerned about the citizens. Peachtree City is by far one of the best places in the USA to raise your children where they can still safetly play outside, take long walks and ride their bikes without being afraid. We still teach them about safety and how to avoid bad situations but the everyday fear is not there.
