roofing in Peachtree City! Flat Roofs leak more often than sloped shingle roofs because they do not have the same drainage system as traditional roofs. Flat roofs installed differently than sloped roofs. Shingles don't do the trick when it comes to keeping moisture out of a flat roof, so when doing
roof repairs for flat or low sloped roofs, we often do modified bitumen roofing systems. These are also known as torch downs.

Here is an example of a flat roof repair in Peachtree City that we have recently done. Our client just bought a home, but the flat roof on the top was pooling water instead of shedding it. She needed the roof replaced or fixed somehow. She found our company on the internet and gave us a call! We set up a time and date to come inspect the roof.
After examining the roof, we could see that the problem was the flat roof had multiple layers of roofing systems that had just been gone over layer upon layer every time the roof had a leak. The sides were built up higher than the middle of the roof, thereby causing the water to pool and leak. We bid to strip the roof of all layers of roof and get down to the original decking, then install a sloped roof on the flat and shingle over that.
Results of the Fixed Roof in PTC
We first had to sweep off all the water that was sitting on the roof. Then we started tearing off all the old layers. The two top layers were modified bitumen torch down roofing systems and they were placed on top of three layers of tar and gravel roof systems. We found water between each layer.
Once the roof was cleaned off and we got down to decking, we built a slope frame work and decked it with ½ inch plywood. We then installed glass base on top of that so the modified bitumen roofing system would have something to stick to. This whole job took one day to complete. It turned out better than I expected it to!

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) is a rubber roofing system which is also used for flat roofs. EPDM roofs are lightweight and single ply. This means that they put less pressure on the building structure because they are very light. EPDM roofing systems have few seams because the material comes in such large rolls.
TPO is an additional roofing system that many flat roofs have. TPO (Thermoplastic PolyOlefin) roofs are polymer blends which consist of rubber and reinforcing filler. Each of these different types of flat roofing systems are installed in different ways, however they all protect the building from outside moisture.
